35: Holden Shawlette

This yarn was a birthday present from my mum and it is luuuush. 50% merino and 50% silk, it is so soft and buttery and drapey. She found it at a market stall in Belfast. It took a while for me to figure out what to do with it but the Holden shawlette was perfect. I was really happy with how it turned out and I think it might actually be the first item I ever blocked (but I’m not sure about that). It has nice memories of husband and I’s first flat together.

34: Urban Broomstick Slouchy Hat

I saw this pattern on Tumblr and I had to have it. I finished it on the bus down the student gaming nationals in Leicester and I have fantastic memories of that whole weekend (even if it took like 12 hours to get there). I wore it to death. It’s a bit big so with my new short hear it kinda drowns out my hair so it doesn’t get worn quite as much now. I do want to make a new one with wool as I think it would look awesome.

33: Stolen From The Sea

I’d been scouring Rav for patterns for my Drops Delight and stumbled across this. It’s a really simple and elegant seafoam pattern for a stole and I love it. It was really simple to knit and basically flew off the needles. It was great for work because I could pick it up and put it down easily between calls. I have knit this pattern twice more which I’ll get to a good few blog posts down the line. It needs reblocked so I can get a decent picture!

31: Criss Cross Corrugated Scarf

My mum got me some yarn for my birthday and I finally got round to using this particular ball. It came with a pattern that just uses dropped yarn overs so every second row the stitches are elongated. Instead of keeping it as a scarf I sewed the ends together so it works as a cowl. Not a very much worn item but I enjoyed knitting it. It was a quick knit when I actually worked on it and was pretty relaxing.

30: Boneyard

My first Stephen West pattern! I had some Drops Delight I didn’t know what to do with so Cia suggested this pattern. My first triangular shawl too! I love love love how the stripes work, I wore it a lot when I finished it. I also used some skull beads to put tassels on it too, so my boneyard actually has bones on it. I showed it to Stephen himself at EYF 2016 and he said he likes the beads so it’s good enough for me haha.
